Here’s a short update on Norman. He went to the vet on Tuesday for a normal checkup and teeth cleaning. He was also getting his next Cytopoint injection. However, as you may have guessed, many of Norman’s vet visits aren’t very “normal.”
Mid-morning we got a phone call to let us know that Norman had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and broke out in hives. They gave him a steroid and Benadryl injection to help them go down. This doesn’t happen every time, but he has had a similar reaction before and typically its better by the time we pick him up.
While he was having his teeth cleaned, the vet found a broken tooth so it had to be removed. Because of that, he was prescribed a pain killer. This does seem to happen every time he goes in for a cleaning. I’m not sure why he seems to lose so many teeth; maybe it’s semi-normal? I remember it happened quite a bit with Murphy too. Maybe we should be brushing them a little more often, but it seems strange to me that our dogs lose so many teeth.
He definitely didn’t feel too great when we got him home, but he was doing better by Wednesday. And Today he seems to be back to normal. When he got home Tuesday night, all he wanted to do was lay by the fire…and drink water…a lot of water.
Thanks to everyone on social media that has sent well wishes to Norman! Here’s a pic of him on Tuesday night. Have a great weekend everyone!
