Welcome to the Family

It’s hard to believe that Norman passed away more than a year ago. Our family has been talking about when to get another dog. But how long do we wait? What kind of dog would we get? Another frenchie? Honestly, probably not. I think it would be too hard.

Well, last week those questions were sort of answered for us.

My wife got a call from her mom. She told us that a family friend needed to find a good home for two golden doodles. This family actually owned 4 of them! That’s a lot of fluff.

These two doodles, Sunny and Ginger, were working as comfort dogs at a funeral home that the family owns. Two of the employees were actually keeping the dogs. Well, those employees were mistreating the two dogs so they were fired. Apparently they were using shock collars on them, among other things.

So the family brought the dogs back to their home while they looked for them a  good place to live. They have both been through obedience training, and Ginger is actually a certified service dog.

Say Hello!

So we went to meet the family and the dogs a couple days later. Before we went, there was a lot of debate. We definitely wanted to get a dog, but two? And neither of us had ever had a dog larger than a pug.

Maybe we agree to take one…but then we would be separating sisters. What to do!?

Well I suppose you can guess what happened. We came home with two new pups!

The family was willing to give these two trained dogs to a loving home for free! I mean, how could we not say yes to that!

I have to say I was a little concerned about getting two bigger dogs, but it has been great so far. It’s only been a week but they have made themselves right at home. Our daughter is clearly excited about having them around. She’s been missing Norman and has been asking for a pet. (We got her two fish but they aren’t quite as cudly.)

In case you’re wondering, these dogs do not shed and so far they have no known medical conditions. Including no allergies! (Knock on ALL the wood).

The family had started feeding the dogs Nutro Essentials food, so I think we will stick with that and see how it goes.

So if you see some golden doodle posts on here, don’t be alarmed. It’s still me. I won’t be changing the name of the website or anything like that. And I’ll still be writing posts about dog allergies.

I just wanted to introduce our two new family members!
